BRIEF HISTORY
Source of Light Ministries, Ghana operates as one of the over 30 Branches of
the Source of Light Ministries International with its headquarters in Madison
Georgia USA.
Source of Light Bible Courses was first brought to Ghana by missionaries in
the early 1960's. Later, the courses gained wider distribution through nationals
using them in schools, churches, prisons, etc. for evangelism, follow - up and
discipleship among children youth and adults.
In 1996 the work was upgraded as a Branch with 17 Associate Schools under the
leadership of Rev. Daniel D. Sappor with other Associate School Directors serving
as Board Members. As at now SOL Ghana is registered with the government of Ghana
as a non-profit making Christian organization with NGO status.
ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF
SOL Ghana operates a national office under a national board with a National Director and over 15 full-time, part-time staff. An Annual General Meeting brings together Trustees, Board Members, Patrons, Staff, Associate School Directors and Friends to reflect upon the work in the past and look forward to what lies ahead.
ASSOCIATE SCHOOLS
SOL Ghana Branch started with 17 Associate Schools in 1996. As at January 2002
we have on record 116 Associate School serving in all the 10 Regions of Ghana.
SOL Ghana in the year 2001 distributed 383,594 lessons, issued 33,372 certificates
with 3,013 decisions made for Christ.
WHAT MINISTRIES WE ARE INVOLVED IN
THE ultimate purpose of SOL Ghana is to "Evangelize, Teach, Train and
Serve through the distribution of Bible Courses while improving the living standard
of rural communities through our outreach projects.
Apart from serving the over 166 Associate Schools we are involved in:
1. BRANCH SCHOOL: Here we serve over 200 children, youth and adults coming
weekly to the office to collect and grade their lessons. We also enroll by post
over 5,000 students who write from all over the country. Majority of our students
by post are those who write to overseas and are referred to us.
2. SCHOOLS OUTREACH: Weekly we have access to over 25 public and private schools
with over 25,000 students studying SOL Bible Courses. Full-time staff, Associate
School Directors and many volunteers visit these schools weekly.
3. FILMS AND PRISONS: In the year 2001 9 films were shown reaching over 2250
people out of which 836 received Christ as Saviour. Also 15 boxes of Bible Study
Courses were given to the Nsawam Prisons to be used in the spiritual transformation
of the inmates. Nsawam Prison is the largest in Ghana.
4. READING ROOM: The general public as well as our students have access to our
Reading Room with good music, Christian films and sound Christian as well as
school textbooks.
5. MAILBOX CLUB RALLY: This is a yearly activity bringing together our students
from churches schools and Good News Clubs. They compete in Sword Drill and Bible
Quiz based on a chosen course of study. Apart from certificates presented to
those who have completed their course of study, we have a keen competition with
trophies presented to the first three in Bible Quiz and Sword Drill. Each year,
we have over 30 different groups competing with over 1500 children and teachers
in attendance.
6. DISCIPLESHIP & LEADERSHIP TRAINING: This is a yearly activity which helps
in training Associate School Directors, Staff and students into discipleship
and Leadership work.
7. RURAL OUTREACH
A. ATTORMAN: A completed 3-classroom block with store and office was dedicated
and opened. The school now has over 150 children with 4 teachers. 75% of the
children no more carries tables and chairs to and from school as a result of
donations received to provide desks.
B. MPRUMEM: The school continues to use the 3-classroom mud building put up
by the parents. SOL is helping by providing zing to roof another 3-mud classroom
needed. They will continue using mud classrooms till we are able to raise the
needed fund for a permanent building. The school now has over 100 children with
3 teachers.
C. ORPHANAGE: The number of children has increased to 80. It is becoming very
difficult meeting the cost of feeding, education and medical care. Very few
children do receive sponsorship through Final Frontiers foundation.
D. DUNKWA BEPOSO: The church is still growing. They have started working on
their permanent building through communal labor.

DIFFICULTIES / PRAYER REQUEST
1. Over 100% increase in Postage as from January 2002 which will cause us to
limit the number of students by post.
2. Associate Schools unable to contribute towards materials supplied to them
and local funding not forthcoming.
3. More public and private schools opened for SOL Ghana but lack of personnel
to help them
4. We need more Christian books, films, video player and TV to equip our Reading

TESTIMONIES
Ø A 16 year old John Gwira continued an abandoned lesson of a friend. He thanked the Lord for being saved after doing the lesson.
Ø I would have placed my life in a total mess said 27 year old Doris Asiedu. But thank God for His timely intervention by introducing the LDM Lesson to her through a friend, she said we are not taught this but thank God I am saved.
Ø A pastor who was saved as a result of doing SOL courses in the early
1970's was excited when we visited Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana to introduce
the courses to them. He said he did not know where to get these lessons and
has been yearning to use the lessons in his church and outreach.
